In order to promote Cricket at school level and provide the contemporary cricketing experience similar to Indian Premier League (IPL) and Champion League to budding cricketers, and provide continuous flow of the emerging talent to the National & International level, the Cricket Gala of SGVP Trophy- I, All India Day Night Cricket Tournament -2011 was organized by SGVP Sports Academy at the onset of the new cricket season in the lush green cricketing venue of SGVP from 15th Oct, 11.
The grand opening ceremony of the tournament was held in the holy presence of H.H Sadguru Purnai Shree Balkrishnadasji Swami and vibrant presence of IPS, Ajay Kumar Tomar, Joint Commissioner of Police and amid encouraging presence of renowned IPL & Ranji Player Mr. Niraj Patel.
The tournament was played with leather ball in day- night conditions and U-14, 16 & 19 categories. A total of 64 teams from all the regions of Gujarat state and other parts of India participated in the tournament and played on knock out basis.
As the tournament progressed, the level of competition reached to the high sky by the awesome performance of participants. Many young cricketers set new records. In U-14 category, Base Cricket Academy, Udaipur became the champion, in U-16 category, SPCT defeated their nearest opponent Gujarat Cricket Institute in the final and clinched the title and in U-19 category, the victorious SPIS defeated SGVP Sports Academy in the final and lifted the winning trophy. With extra ordinary performances 10 players in each category were adjudged Top 10 Promising Players of the category.
After beautiful display by the numerous players during the tournament, the 34 days long All India Day Night Cricket Tournament came to the stage of a highly successful Cricket Carnival. It impressed every cricketer who participated in it. The colourful and grand closing ceremony was organized at the last ray of the 19th November, 2011 and in the holy presence of H.H. Sadguru Shashtri Shree Madhavpriyadasji Swami and H.H. Sadguru Purani Shree Balkrishnadaji Swami. IPL Fame Cricket legends Niraj Patel and Salil Yadav made their encouraging presence on the eve to inspire all the participants and the audience. The holy saints and dignitaries appreciated all the players for their contribution in making this tournament such an impressive and gave away the prizes more than Rs. 2 Lakhs.
