At Gurukul Taravada, ‘Sankranti Mahotsav’ was celebrated in a pomp manner along with various social and educational features. In the holy presence of Pujyapad Shree Jogi Swamiji, with the propitious blessings of Pujya Shree Hariprasaddasji Swami, motivation of Sdg. Mahant Shree Devkrishnadasji Swami and Sdg. Shastri Shree Madhavpriyadasji Swami, direction of Purani Shree Krushnapriyadasji Swami the Mahotsav was celebrated.
Shree Keshubhai Patel (Member, Rajyasabha & former chief minister – Gujarat State) was the auspice of the Mahotsav.
The construction of ‘Shastri Shree Dharmajivan Swami B.Ed. College’ was accomplished with amenities like auditorium, computer lab and laboratory. This state-of-art B.Ed. college is one of its kinds in the state erected under the able guidance of saints. Inauguration of this new structure was done under the pious sanctity of Pujyapad Shree Jogi Swamiji along with other devotees from US, Shree Manubhai Patoliya, Shree Dhirubhai Babariya and Shree Shivlalbhai Bhanderi. More than 100 students are taking training in this B.Ed. College and over 200 students are obtaining training in PTC college.
To overcome the scarcity of water, Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul has adopted various water conserving projects. Under this movement a huge ‘Dharmajivan Sarover’ has been constructed and was dedicated to the society from the holy hands of Sdg. Mahant Shree Devkrishnadasji Swami along with Shree Dhirubhai J. Babariya (US). A foundation stone was laid for another sarovar under the banner ‘Sahajanand Sarovar’ from the holy hands of Sdg. Shastri Shree Madhavpriyadasji Swami alongwith Shree Mathurbhai Savani (Chairman, Saurastra Jaldhara Trust).
A water storage tank constructed with the aid of members of Parliament was dedicated to the society by Shree Keshubhai Patel. Similarly an underground water tank has been planned to be constructed aided with the grants of Members of the Legislative Assembly. Foundation stone of this water sump was laid by Shree Pareshbhai Dhanani (MLA, Amreli).
A blood donation camp was arranged on this auspicious day of ‘Sankranti’ and 60 bottles of blood were collected. Gau-poojan on the day of ‘Sankranti’ has reasonable significance and accordingly a project of Gau-poojan and supply of cattle fodder was launched. Under this project 400 villages will assist for Gau-poojan and cattle fodder. Pious inauguration of this project of Gau-poojan was done from the holy hands of Pujya Shree Kothari Swami Shree Harijivandasji Swami.
In his discourse, Sdg. Shree Madhavpriyadasji Swami explained the importance of social services for the upliftment of society. Sdg. Shree Devkrishnadasji Swami also rendered his blessings to all devotees. More than 10,000 devotees from Amreli, Una, Junagadh, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surat, Mumbai, Bhavnagar, Mumbai, UK and US took benefit of this Makar-sankranti Mahotsav.
