26th January is a special day for India as on that day Indian Constitution came into force and from that very day India became Sovereign Democratic Republic with a Parliamentary form of Government based on universal adult franchise.
Every year Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul, Rajkot and its branches celebrate Republic day with great pomp and respect. This year’s Republic day celebration was memorable and special for Gurukul family as on that day complete bland of occasions had occurred such as foundation day of Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul Rajkot, Patotsav of Ghanshyam Maharaj at Rajkot Gurukul, Shikshapatri Jayanti, Vasant Panchmi and birthday of Param Viyragya Murti Nishkulanand Swami. To mark these memorable occasion various celebrations in the form of Sports day and Annual day functions have taken place at different branches of Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul, Rajkot.
On the occasion of Ghanshyam Maharaj’s Patotsav at Rajkot Gurukul Abhishak and Annakut darshan were organized. Shree Purshottambhai Boda and Shree Harishbhai Mehta have contributed for the occasion in great respect. On the occasion of Shikshapatri Jayanti the students of Rajkot Gurukul had done 2100 paaths of Shikshapatri. After worshipping Shikshapatri everybody had listened the discourse of Pujya Shastriji Maharaj. Pujya Devkrishnadasji Swami had also discoursed relevant to the occasion.
At Junagadh Gurukul as well the Republic day was organized in its great spirit. On the occasion the Home guard Officer of Junagadh District Shree Girishbhai Nathwani unfurled the flag. Junagadh Gurukul’s students have performed different cultural programmes organized at Junagadh Police Parade Ground and won the running trophy of the year.
At Ahmedabad Gurukul the Sports Day was organized on 24th and 25th of January.
To mark the occasion special programme called ‘Sanskruti Nu Spandan’ under which Parent’s Meeting and cultural activities were organized at Surat Gurukul. Under cultural activities Skate dancing, Raas, Pyramid, Yoga and Patriotic dance were performed by students of Surat Gurukul. ‘Jo Jo Phul na karmay ‘ play was organized to give lesson to those parents that are careless in giving discipline to their children. Around 7000 parents and devotees have participated during the occasion. During 25th to 28th January Crafts and Educational Exhibition were organized at Gurukul’s Primary School in which around 730 models such as World Trade Center, Titanic, Ancient Currencies, Famous Play Grounds, Electronic and Electrical items were prepared by Surat Gurukul students. After Flag hosting on the occasion of Shikshapatri Jayanti Shikshapatri Paath and Poojan were organized and thereafter youngsters conducted the Shikshapatri Quiz.
At Hydrabad Gurukul as well the Republic day was celebrated with great pomp and devotion like other Gurukuls. D.E.O. Shree A. N. Shudarshan Rao has unfurled the flag. On the occasion different cultural activities such as group dancing, play dancing, pyramid etc. were organized. C.E.S. and R.E.I.S. Programme for the intellectual and overall development of students were shown on projector. The play ‘Bhakta Prahlad’ performed by students of Hydrabad Gurukul was remarkable on the occasion. Pujya Shree Devprashad Swami had discoursed relevant to the occasion. Chief guest Shree Sudarshan Rao was very impressed by the activities of Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul, Hydrabad and marked the Gurukul as the Jewel of the region. Thereafter awards were presented to the winning groups and students. Around 4000 parents and haribhaktas were participated on the occasion.
Gurukul Chharodi (SGVP) celebrated its three day CULTURAL FESTIVAL 2004 from 24th January to 26th January. The annual sports day celebration was clubbed along with the cultural festival.
24th January, day one of the celebration, was completely devoted for Annual sports day. The day began with a ‘March Past’ followed by a formal declaration of the ceremony open by the chief guest Commanding Officer Captain P.S. Gill from AFS, Wadsar. The declaration was followed by a myriad of sports events that completed all the preliminary rounds on the same day.
25th January, was a fun filled eve with exhibition and cultural programmes. A stupendous exhibition of that comprised of projects & working models made by the students was displayed. Shree Ravibhai Trivedi, enduring inspiration, declared the exhibition open to which, the school received an awesome response that very day.
The evening began with the lighting of the lamp, a symbol of inspiration for our budding artists, by guest of honour, Captain P.S. Gill & the guests. An array of Cultural programmes was presented which comprised of dance, skits and music. Some of the highlights of the evening were festival songs, Bengali dance, Bhangra, Raas and skits on various inspirable subjects. The final and the most awaited event of the day was the Award Ceremony. Most prominent awards were: The best student, The best educator, The best sportsman, The best spiritual ranker, etc.
The third function was the 55th Republic day celebration. A miniature of the march-past and tableaus in comparison to the capital was created as a mark of honour to our motherland. The patriotic aroma was boosted with speeches in English & Sanskrit and Action songs. The dignitaries present on this occasion extolled the school’s multilingual practices, policy of ‘Sarvajeev Hitavah’, warm hospitality and the balance among Science, Sports and Spirituality.
Pujya Purani Swami Bhaktiprakashdasji Swami had unfurled the flag at Taravada Gurukul and on the same day Sports day was organised to mark the occasion.
