 Vasant, the season of spring a harbinger of joy is a metaphor common to most civilizations. Especially in India, this season come with number of celebrations in various parts of country and nationalised festivals as well. Many flowering plants bloom this time of year with the message that now is the time to renew, recharge and freshen up the world around us. Beginning of New Year of many traditions in India and in other countries too, fall in this beautiful season of flowers and colours.
Bhagwan Shree Swaminarayan reformed the celebrations of Vasant with devotional fragrance and spiritual colours. Devotees offer new flowers to God remembering His great grace to living beings in form of flora and seeds.
Gurukul continuing in the tradition of festival celebrates Fuldolotsav or Pushpadolotsav with devotional joy and pleasure. The great celebrations of Pushpadolotsav were carried out by Bagawan Shree Swaminarayan at Vadatal and other places. ‘Fuldolotsav or Pushpadolotsav means celebration (Utsav) related to swing (Dola) well decorated with flowers (Pushap)’. Devotees offer a flower swing and plenty of new blossomed flowers to God and have pleasure with devotional songs and rituals.
At Gurukul Ahmedabad, with the blessings of Pujyapad Shree Jogi Swamiji, in the holy presence of Sadguru Purani Swami Shree Bhaktiprakashdasji Swami & Sadguru Shastri Shree Madhavpriyadasji Swami Pushpadolotsav was celebrated with devotional fervour under the guidance of Sadguru Purani Shree Balkrishnadasji Swami on 11 March, 2009.
Vedic rituals and Poojan were performed by learned Pandits along with Vedic recitations.
A flower swing and shower of flowers were offered to Bhagawan Shree Swaminarayan resembling the divine celebrations performed at Vadatal and other places. Students played Nrutya presenting zeal and pleasure of festival.
Saints blessed all participants with the Prasadi-flowers and Fagava (a sort of gift of Pushpadolotsav). Sadguru Shastri Shree Madhavpriyadasji Swami explained the aim and usefulness of such festivals. Sadguru Purani Shree Balkrishnadasji Swami delivered occasional speech and Sadguru Shree Purani Swami blessed all devotees.
