INTRODUCTION
Bhagwan Shree Swaminarayan conveyed the message of Value based education: Morality & Selfless Services for upliftment of all mankind & for welfare of all living entities through Shikshapatri before 183 years ago.
At the advent of freedom Guruvarya Shastriji Maharaj Shree Dharmjeevandasji Swami started many pious & noble activities through Gurukul just to propagate this divine message in social, educational and religious fields.
This period was the dawn of freedom for india. The foresighted saint H.H. Shastriji Maharaj was the founder of Gurukul-like education system which was very famous in ancient India.
The inspiration for establishing Gurukul came in the mind of Gurudev Shastriji Maharaj when he was wandering the the Himalayan region of Alaknanda-Mandakini confluence and saw a Sanyaasi teaching Sanskrit to pupils in the holy ambience of Naradji's, Rudraprayag.
In the year 1948, on the auspicious day of Vasant Panchami, the old system of teaching in a new look with the name of Swaminiarayan Gurukul appeared on the land of Rajkot and its branches had been spread throughout the world.
Opening of SGVP
During the visit of foreign countries in the year 1978, Gurudev Shashriji Maharaj once said, "One can get here the wealth but his children may go off the track". Now this prediction of H.H. Gurudev seems to be true. The problem of losing own culture for indians staying abroad is increasing day by day.
The prediction of Gurudev given long back struck and flashed in the mind of Sadguru Shashtri Shree Madhavpriyadasji Swami like the jubilant twinkling star. To do something on the global level for the wellbeing of new generation was his ambition. Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul Vishwavidya Pratishthanam (SGVP) emerged out from the austerity of his mind, in which the students of different countries are getting value based education.

It's our sincere effort to present a brief introduction of various philanthropic activities of SGVP and Gurukul.
SGVP is a medium to propagate the message of ‘Servjeevhitavah’ and ‘Sadvidya’ throughout the world initiated by Bhagwan Swaminarayan. To impart the value-based education integrated with science and religion to children is the aim of SGVP.
The selfless activities of Gurukul are spread just like a Banyan tree. The field of activities of Gurukul is not only to impart education. Apart from education, other philanthropic activities of Gurukul which strengthen the religious, social, cultural and national approaches are carried out as per the commandment ‘Sarvajeevhitavah’ of Bhagwan Shree Swaminarayan and those acitivities are described briefly in this brochure.
The vision of H.H. Shastriji Maharaj Shree Dharnmjeevandasji Swami lies in the root of these philanthropic activities which are nurtured by H.H. Purani Shree Premprakashdasji Swami and are blessed by highly realized saint H.H. Jogi Swami.
Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul Vishwavidya Pratishthanam (SGVP) is an outcome of a prophetic vision of Shastriji Maharaj.
Many holy saints have offered the oblations of their lives for this most pious and noble work and thousands of loyal devotees have dedicated their everything by heart. The fame of SGVP success goes to these people.
After the demise of Shastriji Maharaj this altruistic endeavor got reinforcement for its growth from Purani Shree Bhaktiprakashdasji Swami. Shree Devkrishnadasji Swami and Shree Balkrishnadasji Swami can never be forgotten.
